“...Croydon’s best unsigned music act 2009 and a Brit school protégé, De’Borah is a singer song writer with a brilliant future. She sings beautifully crafted, plaintive songs accompanied by her guitar, delivered with a beguiling pure voice.” Growing up in a musical family naturally evoked De’Borah’s own discovery of her voice. Not long after being awarded this title from her hometown in South London, De’Borah released her debut EP Seasons and was supporting the likes of double Ivor Novello award- winner Chris Difford (Squeeze). Performing at festivals such as the Secret Garden Party and venues in and around London, Brighton and South East (The Komedia and Jazz Cafe to name a few) - 'De'Borah...delivers beautifully written songs with a gorgeous clear voice in a completely unaffected way' (Daz Gueri, The Event Umbrella). With influences from Alicia Keys and Eva Cassidy, De'Borah started singing and writing at age 11. As she hit her teens the sound of Keane's 'Bedshaped' on the radio, (literally) spun her around to a world of Indie and later, Rock music. A wide range of artists have since inspired her style such as -Joni Mitchell, The Police, John Mayer and Lauryn Hill. Armed with her guitar from age 13, De’Borah has always challenged her own musical horizons. This is clearly heard in her once-described ‘eco-song’ - ‘Skyline Has Faded’ and the‘stand-alone’ rendition of Oasis’ Wonderwall that never ceases to give audiences the most pleasant surprise. Beside her pin-drop vocals it is undoubtedly De’Borah’s songs that inspire audiences. Just a few examples of her passionate but honest lyrical approach can be heard in songs like How Far We’ve Come recorded at Camden’s legendary Roundhouse and Off My Skin recorded for the award-winning Brighton Institute of Modern Music. “De'Borah was simply amazing and to do 2 hour sets of inspirational music was mind-blowing and I know she will go on to great things” (Dale Road Music Club) 2012 will be yet another year of ever-intriguing melodies, chords and lyrics shaped behind De’Borah’s unforgettable voice. She is currently recording a new EP planned for release in March 2012.
